What Brings You Here?

Changes

Adjusting to change is always hard but some changes hit us harder than others. Are you distracted, anxious, uncertain or riddled with doubt? Do you think about it all the time or try to avoid thinking about it at all? Whether the change was wanted or unwanted, anticipated or a complete shock, therapy can help you unpack the range of emotions you carry and understand better what to do next.

Anxiety

Do you find that it’s difficult to turn off your busy mind? Does it feel as if you are constantly replaying the past or worrying about the future? Anxiety can be a debilitating condition that steals our present in return for a peaceful future that never seems to materialize. Therapy can help you identify and understand the root causes of your anxiety, interrupt destructive thought patterns, and build new tools to manage stress and worries in the future.

Existential Crisis/ Life Transitions

Change of identity or role, change in career, medical conditions or an infinite number of other possibilities can cause us to questions things we previously took for granted. What is my purpose? What is the meaning of what I am experiencing? Existential questions are a normal part of life but sometimes but sometimes the questions feel overwhelming and leave us feeling disillusioned or hopeless. Sometimes we aren’t even sure what the question is but we know that something is not right or something we though we resolved resurfaces as we enter a new stage of life. Psychotherapy can help by exploring underlying meaning and purpose to help you find the questions and the answers you need.

Mood Problems

Do you experience a lack of motivation? Low self-esteem? Sleep Problems? Worries about the future? Disconnected from others? Feelings of hopelessness? You may be experiencing symptoms of depression or other mood disorder-you are not alone, millions of people experience depression. Fortunately, effective treatments are available. Psychotherapy can help you understand your emotions and find happiness.

Relationship Problems

Are your needs continually ignored in your relationships. Do you experience conflict in relationships and wonder if you’d just “be better off alone”? Relationships are a critical part of the human experience, they can also be a source of significant stress. Our expectations for relationships are rooted in our history with relationships so if we experienced unhealthy relationships it is critical that we build insight and awareness into how those model influence our current reactions in relationships. Engaging in a therapeutic relationship is an excellent way to improve relationships by building insight into relationship history. This can only be done in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental setting.

Post-Traumatic Stress

Do you find yourself distracted, zoning out or unable to complete tasks? Did you grow up in a home that lacked the safety and security you needed to thrive? Do you experience intrusive reminders of the past or avoid places or people that might trigger bad memories? Left unaddressed, the emotional wounds from our past can fester, causing problems in our relationships and interfering with our happiness. Sometimes it feels as if bad experiences will haunt us forever, and they can, but they don’t have to. Psychotherapy can help to heal experiences from the past and integrate them into the larger sense of who we are and where we are going.
