About Pete Tallman LCSW

I have worked in mental health for 20 years and have been a licensed therapist since 2012. I have worked in residential, hospital, and outpatient settings within academic, non-profit, and Alaska Native health systems. Since 2014 I have been responsible for directing a primary care behavioral health program in Southwest Alaska.

I have a master’s degree in clinical social work with a specialization in direct practice with individuals, children, and families from the University of Michigan. I am licensed as a clinical social worker by the Alaska Board of Social Workers (#1206) and am certified as a Chemical Dependency Counselor by the Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification. I am also licensed as Board Approved Supervisor (#113012) by the Alaska Board of Professional Counselors.

My areas of training and experience include working with survivors of trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and people in recovery from alcohol and drugs. I have received post graduate training in Brainspotting (BSP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), and other therapeutic techniques.

My theoretical orientation is eclectic. I focus less on the techniques I want to use and instead collaborate with clients to determine which techniques will be most beneficial to them.

I provide in-person individual therapy in downtown Anchorage and online via a secure telemedicine platform.
